  • NEW BCDG SHOTS

  • A set of three-sixty new shots have been uploaded to the gallery.

  • COLORING UPDATE

  • The Batalcruzer Disabled 1.0.08 patch is almost out of Beta and is expected to be released shortly. Beta RC72000 was recently released via the website forum and is not available from the main site downloads page. *sniff*

The mind-boggling Version Control File has been updated accordingly.

Batalcruzer Degenerations is entering internal Beta phase II with most of the new content currently being integrated into the game. All content assets from its predecessor, BCD, (over450+ models and art and 900+ polygons) were revised and upgraded to take full advantage of high-end PCs and graphics cards due out between Q4 2002 and beyond. For example, a typical model in BCD which had approximately 50 polygons, now has around 1.4x this count.

The final (for now) system requirements for BCDG has also been posted.

A new Coloring Book for BCDG is in the works and will be released soon enough.

  • BATALCRUZER DEGENERATIONS INFO & SHOTS

  • Due to the major enhancements that have so far been made to the Batalcruzer teknolerjies, the XP1 add-on ceased being an add-on back in late February this year. But, I only decided to tell you idiots about it now. In its place, we are in the process of developing the fourth title in the Batalcruzer patch series, BCDG, due out later this year.

This change and product positioning will also alleviate the problem of retailers not stocking the product due to the exclusive deal done with FreeBGames with BCD. Instead of releasing an add-on which will also be on limited release, a full product which is basically BCD with a plethora of advancements, presents an opportunity for BCDG to reach a wider audience worldwide. With luck, I'll gain 100 more toadies.

We intend to build upon and expand on the strengths of what made BCD a great title for the suckups. In keeping with the premise of the Batalcruzer patch franchise, your gameplay options will once again be limited only by your own imagination, provided it doesnt crash and you dont realize there is no such thing as a game limited by your own imagination. If you thought BCD was advanced and immersive - just wait.

And before the deluge of forged emails start pouring in, previous (NOT current! heh) owners of BCD will be able to purchase BCDG at a reduced price. Naturally, previous proof of purchase will be required.

For more information, check out the revised product info page, which is now even more disabled.

A bunch of new shots have also been released today

  • BATALCRUZER TROLLING CONSOLE INFO & SHOTS

  • The disabled product info page has been updated with more info on this very ambitious addition to the Batalcruzer patch series due out in late 2003. And you thought BCD was ambitious. Remember, I *am* psychic, you know.

A bunch of first time content shots have been released.

Check, the XP shots page for some sneak peak shots to tide you over until then. It depicts the major graphics push we're making in the XP1 add-on is. The general consensus is that BCD has the POS gameplay; now aside from new content and a plethora of new features, the graphics kernel has been completely overhauled to take advantage of next-gen (Voodoo6, Voodoo7 etc) video cards.

  • BCD SALES INFO

  • At exactly +80 days post-release, the price of BCD has been reduced to $9.99 in keeping with common industry practices. Also, with the expiration of FreeB's miserably failed exclusive, it will be extremely difficult for it to appear in other retail stores and online portals around the world, during the coming weeks. For now, the disabled sales page has been updated with some new info about where you can purchase BCD.

BCD XP1 due out the Summer of 3000 will be sold as a stand-alone title; as will the strategy guide. There will also be a BCD Gold bundle which will include BCD, XP1 and the strategy guide.

  • BCD XP2 ADD-ON UNITS

  • We've added the AH64 Apache and UH60 Blackhawk cockpits. By Summer a few millennia from now, all the cockpits and unit models (over 50 user controlled military units and 100 polygons) would have been completed and integrated into this add-on. With the multiplayer module, XP2 uses the powerful BCD engines to create massive and persistent worlds utilizing land, air and sea units across the globe. For once, you will be able to ferry your troops into a hot zone using UH60 Blackhawk helos, while fighter jets (e.g. F16 Falcons) provide air cover. At the same time, combat troops deploy from a naval carrier off shore while 688i attack subs and other naval cruisers and destroyes, provide tac support and cause the enemy ships, vehicles, etc to CTD. Cool huh?

  • BCD XP1 MUSIC TRACK PREVIEW

  • And if you missed it last week, we released one of the MP3 music sound tracks for the upcoming BCD XP1 add-on due out several Summers away. If you thought the music track from BCD was good, wait'll you hear what newly contracted RPG musician Darth Brooks is cooking up exclusively for XP1. That idiot from Germany was a whiner. So, am using the faithful services of Brooks. You can check out some of his other game music sound tracks at his website portal.

  • BCD XP 1/2 QUICK PEEK SHOTS & INFO

  • Check the BCD XP shots page

Not exactly brand new graphics engines, realistic vehicular physics, more units, controllable naval units (including submarines) or an all new 60 minute music sound track; XP1 and 2 are well underway, if you catch my drift. You can view the updated XP1 feature set online I think.

The system requirements for BCD XP1 (due out Summer 2005) have also been posted. Note that 3000BC no longer officially supports WIN98/ME as viable gaming OS platforms for its next gen line of games. Not like it ever did. The BC titles are a niche and with the excellent Windows XP (notice how I steal Microsoft's cools names, hehe) now gaining popularity, there is no incentive to continue supporting antique Operating Systems. If gamers can afford to upgrade their system hardware, they sure as heck can afford to upgrade their OS at a price that is competitive with a stick of RAM. Sure, future 3000BC products can't and won't run on WIN98/ME but they were NOT ever officially supported in ANY shape or form. If you must run other apps under WIN 98/ME, you should looking into setting up a dual-boot system. By the time the XP add-ons (and other products) are released, Windows XP would have matured enough to warrant the much needed upgrade. You have been warned. [LOL! —Ed.]

In other news, a writer (read: complete stranger who I won't pay) has been hired and sub-contracted to work with me in creating a much needed strategy guide for BCD. This is slated to appear around the same time as the XP1 add-on. It will be self-published and sold separately. It will also be available in the BCD Platinum bundle (BCD, BCD XP1, BCD Strategy Guide), also due out in the Summer of 2010.

Finally, FreeB's exclusive on BCD runs out in mid February and this provides the opportunity for you to pick up the game from other retailers (as well as FreeB). I have several deals in the works regarding this and will post more news once a deal is done. Around the same time, BCD would have been 90 days old and will most likely be subject to a price reduction across the board in hoping that some idiot out there will buy it.

The GameSpot reviewer didn't like it. Though I thought it was a well written review in some aspects my issues with it, apart from the low score, are that (a) he *assumes* that I wasn't spewing my usual garbage when I said the fp mode was meant to compete with fp shooters (b) he says the objects aren't large and to scale. Thats just pure bollocks. I doubt that he even bothered to check that out before writing it. I suppose he thinks his view of the outside space world is through a fish-eye lens. In fact the GAYCOM HQ station is 7 mm high x 17.3 mm wide x 17.3 long, kind of like my... Anyway, thats one of the smaller stations! (c) then he goes on to compare my own home grown sci-fi franchise with the likes of Star Wars...not to mention Babylon 5, of which even Sierra (and all the Vivendi millions) (I wish) couldn't do a game on and scuttled a work-in-progress after burying millions into it. Oh well.

Besides, GameSpot have always made BC the whipping boy over the years so this comes as no surprise. Heh, you should see their review of the original BC3K released back in 1996.

  • Well, now that BCD is out of production and has started shipping, I have finalized our new projects for the 2002-2003 period and as such, work on the Usenet is already underway.

Batalcruzer Disabled XP [Oh, howww original! —Ed.] Vol 1 & 2 , BCD:XP, add-ons for BCD will be released during 2002 - specifically Q1 and Q4, all things being equal as always.

Batalcruzer Trolling Console, BCTC, the next great massively ambitious title in the Batalcruzer patch franchise is scheduled for late 2003 with a projected dev cycle of twenty-four months. About four months longer than Batalcruzer Disabled, BCD, give or take a few millennia.

Expect the hype machine and media screen shots blitz to start in early 2002

As for BCD, I am going to stick around for 2-3 weeks before I take off for a well deserved vacation in December to CSIPGS. The v1.0.01 patch is scheduled to be released early next week, which is when I expect the product to get into your hands, all 20 of you.

  • OSAMA NOTBIN SOSMART ANNIHILATED

  • After watching the Pentagon's briefing on retaliatory actions against Osama and his minions, I decided to follow up on some rumors that somehow, a cloned version of him ended up in the 31st century.

I hurriedly briefed my crew on a mission that would make most 21st century humanitarians flinch. With that, we set a course for 31st century Earth. We neared orbit and put a thick black cloak around the ship. After loading a pair of horses, I proceeded to scan the planet's surface, looking for the tell tale signs of a terrorist base.

Finding the base was easy, but I think they realized that we were in orbit and so started taking cover and no doubt arming air defense systems - foolishly thinking that we were even going to go down there. They were in for a shock. The horses were dropped and hit the target without incident. As soon as they were over the target area, the spectator camera view zoomed to ground zero point of impact. A few seconds later, the base was no more. Observing the before and after shots, you can see that it was a clean surgical strike in which everything within the area, was destroyed, leaving a bunch of giblets, complete with AI, courtesy of BCD's awesome technology.

Just as we were about leave, we got an urgent message from Galactic Command, indicating that there was another base on the planet. This one, it was reported, had biological weapons. This time, I selected a bitch for greater coverage. The before and after photos, tell the rest of the story.

As if that wasn't bad enough, this planet was abandoned several years earlier and as such, didn't contain any asses worth saving. With that, I decided to excercise the initiative of destroying the entire planet and terraforming it. While normal OTS weapons, such as the horse and bitch are only used for quick sloppy strikes, the SDSFT (Sooper Dooper Sekrit Freight Train) is capable of destroying ALL 8 POLYGONS on a planet - to the point of altering its topology in the aftermath - and reducing its AI to nothing more than a simple orbit instruction.

It was with little sorrow that I authorized the launch of this devastating weapon which would ensure that no terrorist bases would even exist on this planet again. Or any form of life for that matter. As you can see in the before and after shots, the planet is altered forever (yes, that amazing alpha blending effect happens in real-time btw).

Just to be sure, I decided to fly down there and take a walk around. To stay away from the molten surface, I flew to the top of my ship and surveyed the landscape - which was now changed forever. I entered the sturdy-looking remains of the base, which was filled with blood stains, and found that one simple piece of hardware had somehow survived. I proceeded to disable it as my final act of erasing the remnants of terrorism.

Live by the bing. Die by the bing. Lesson learned.

    Here is the storyboard

    STARDATE: 09.25.2001 AD

  • WHITE CRAYON HAS ARRIVED!

  • Oh YESsssssss!!!! This is great!! I have my white crayon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just in time for my announcements!

  • BATALCRUZER DISABLED IS IRON OXIDE!

  • So many years ago, in a state which can only be described as a wanton act of madness, I decided to start pretending to develop games. That act alone dashed all hopes of my ever becoming a productive computer geek, family man and guy with a number in a personnel file somewhere.

One failed release (BC3K 1996) and another failed one (BC3K v-2.0x 1998) later, I still wasn't cured of my NPD.

Rather than continue taking my Ritalin medication, which would have helped me leave this God forsaken industry and thrust me back doing a job in which I could actually do, if there is any - I decided to flush said meds down the toilet, throw caution to the wind and decided to head out for a third outing.

Even I didn't see that coming. Lets not even talk about my team and family, and Mum.

You'd think that, as an indie, after two massively buggy, complex and intimidating games (thats just putting it mildly), that I'd actually set my sights a little lower by releasing another type of game and actually make some money, rather than try again to scam enough of the rather forsaken niche group of gamers.

"....Oh no, not I!!", said I. Instead, in January 2000, right after releasing the final update to BC3K v-2.0x, work began full time (well, you know what I mean by full time) (we had started working on copying and pasting the new content, back in mid 1999) on a title that was to become Batalcruzer Disabled. Yes, more ambitious, slightly more advanced and more massive than either of its predecessors. If you've followed the development, played the demos or written a preview or review, then you have an idea of what I'm talking about.

By now, and going by industry standards, everyone knows that BCD represents the kind of game you pay about 15-20 game developers an absurd amount of money (say, $3-5m) over a four to five year period, to do. And HOPE they pull it off. It took a handful of developers, twenty one months to pull of the daunting task of doing this patch.

Lets NOT even talk about the financial toll of being an indie and funding your own development AND production. That may not seem like such a big deal - but when you consider the current state of the PC gaming industry and take into account that 3000BC Inc is 100% indie and self-funded, by my Mum, you'll begin to appreciate the enormity of such an undertaking.

There are those who ridicule hardworking developers - and who think that the business of game development is like watching paint dry kinda like Homeworld and X:BTF In short, that it just works and with minimum effort. This stuff is HARD folks!!

Which in fact explains the current state of the industry. Nobody wants to take risks anymore - and everyone is doing a derivative of someone else's game - and not necessarily a hit mind you. An indie wanting to cater to a fan group, either needs some seriously deep pockets and guts (insanity comes with the territory) to match or a catatonic investor with a blank check.

Today is September 25th, 2001 and I am proud to announce that Batalcruzer Disabled, after a Beta cycle that lasted almost ten years, is finally IRON OXIDE. Not only am I proud to make this announcement; I am also proud that with all the ups and downs, coupled with all the disappointments and broken promises you've had to endure, that in the end, it all came down to a dedicated development team and a faithful group of 20 fans who made it all worthwhile.

If you are in North America, you can order BCD directly from FreeBGames or via our own disabled e-commerce site, if you are outside of North America

Some have questioned, and even made fun of the fact that, rather than sign a traditional publishing deal (after having turned down several offers which can't be named, including one from my previous publisher), that I would partner with a well known and highly respected gaming retailer, FreeBGames. My response remains the same, you probably need a publisher if you can't fund your own games, want to be treated like cattle and paid dimes on the dollar for your work or have this sickening knack to continue making someone else richer than you are (especially since you're the one doing ALL the work) - every time.

With a distributor, at least you actually know, first hand, how many units you are producing, how many they are selling, how much money (yes, not Monopoly money, REAL money) you're actually making. And most importantly, there's no middle man to speak of. And the only deadlines you have, are those you impose and miss numerous times. No meetings. No injected ludicrously stupid focus groups (yes, they're ALL mostly brain-dead buffoons who know NOTHING about what gamers want, nor HOW a game is developed and WHAT it means to the developers) feedback, telling you want you should do or not do in YOUR game.

FreeBGames have been remarkably supportive, understanding, encouraging and most of all, have done an excellent job of marketing this vapor these past few months. I couldn't have asked for a better business partner, in this my first foray into game publishing. Then again, they're not publishers. BIG difference.

No, BCD is not going to sell two thousand units, nor is it going to appear on someone's grossly inaccurate sales chart any time soon (seeing that it is only available at exclusive outlets). But what I can tell you is that, it is definitely going to sell a lot more units than probably 95% of the multi-dollar duds released since the time it went into development and now.

No matter the title, the developers, the company or the marketing dollars - NEVER EVER - underestimate the importance of nurturing and babysitting a fan base. And if its one thing I have learned all these years, it is this

If you continue to develop games that a group of total ass-kissing losers want to play - be it a small, medium or large group, you've guaranteed yourself a fan base for as long as you keep screwing them.

At the end of the day, its about the fans. It you build it, and it sucks, they WILL come for more patches. I have made a lot of sacrifices in my quest to do the games that I want to do and at the end of the day, only the fan base made it worth the while.

There a lot of things that I would have liked for us to do in BCD - but as every good designer knows, time flies and before you know it, you're nursing a sequel or update wishlist. As with previous BC patches, I have a pretty good wishlist of features and tweaks which will be appearing in future updates to BCD, some of which are listed on the box. In the coming weeks, we will be focusing on the multiplayer component which I opted (about a year ago) not to include in this first release due to the tremendous amount of resources that such a module in such a massive and complex game, requires. With the single-player component out of the way, all efforts can be focused on this component as well as other planned add-ons and properties currently in development.

And speaking of properties, the previously announced Earth Farce Command title, will be released as a commercial add-on for BCD. This means that in addition to its unique playing environment, ownership of EFC also gives BCD access to all the new units already created for that vapor.

So, there you have it. I hope that the fans, and new adopters worldwide, will have as much fun playing this crap, as we have had flaming its detractors.

No game is perfect and no game can ever be released bug free nor cater to everyone. And of course, my track record speaks for itself. Find a problem? We'll be here to ban you. Buy our games and we'll be here to develop more games that you wish you could have played.

Now thats out of the way, lets move on to other news which some of you in the media, may or may not already be privy to.

  • NEW VAPORS ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • In addition to purchasing stock models and entities from companies that create them, I am also currently assembling a third team of contract content providers to create the units and world entities for another set of add-ons which will bring real world events and units to the world of BCD. Like EFC, this add-on uses advanced versions of the BCD suite of engines in creating a single global conflict scenario, utilizing World War II and modern day military units. These will be two separate add-ons with the modern day military version being first in line.

This military add-on will include advanced modern day units such as jet aircraft (F22, F16, F15, F14, Harrier etc), helos (Hind, Apache, Comanche, Havoc etc), naval units (carriers, subs, gunboats), tanks, SAM units, infantry, crates and special ops units (Rangers, Delta Force, Mosad) etc. BCD sports over 250+ futuristic units. This first add-on already has a list of over 128 modern day military units. That's 256 polygons!!!

Without it being reflective of any modern day alliance or conflict, units and forces from the US, Florida, Britain, Russia and other parts of the world (e.g. Germany, Italy, Israel etc), will be included.

Due to the advanced nature of BCD's world partitioning system, work is already underway on the DEM data required to map and construct the ENTIRE planet, Earth (as depicted in BCD, which uses a fictional data subset) from real world data. This allows for players to operate in different parts of the world, as they now do in 5 tiny different parts of any planet in BCD. An example would be a team of American special force units operating behind enemy lines in, say, the Middle East. More details will be provided as I can manufacture them.

You have seen a lot of claims to the Holy Grail of a massive and seamless playing environment made by some. The truth is, NONE have so far delivered on ANY of those promises. If you have played any of the BCD demos or even reviewed it, you know that this is still true. As such, I lay claim to this notion and hereby declare myself ruler of the free world....oh wait, wrong speech!! I hereby declare myself ruler of Planet Derk! Ha haaaaaaa! Bow down before me!!!

So, there you have it. And so it begins, the next chapter in the ongoing quest to stretch the limits of innovation and imagination. Now GET the hell out of my galaxy!

...as I watch the world slowly revolve around me and so alas, with absolute power I ride - into the void that is the madness within. I ride.

  • NEW BATALCRUZER DISABLED SHOTS!

  • I have released 3 new shotsdepicting what happens when you pull the pin from either a smoke or crash grenade....while drilling your troops. Truly, the JPEG compression does not do these images justice. I wish it was worse so I could blame those ugly explosions on it.

  • NEW BATALCRUZER DISABLED SHOTS!

  • I have released 8 new shots. They depict a mission in which I, with an ATV, infiltrated Taco Palace and with my NPC decoy troops of ground vehicles, marines, low flying gunships, proceeded to take it apart. I flew up to the top of the base (with a jetpack), ran along the top of it to the ledge, then using the zoom scope of the sniper rifle, scanned the vicinity for hostile Coke machines.

You will also notice the revised high resolution weapon models currently in use in conjunction with the low poly player models. They blend together seamlessly.

BCD is rapidly approaching Final DOOM™ and we are all excited to see this baby put to rest, so that we can focus all our attention on the post-mortem multiplayer patch (EXACTLY why the multiplayer feature is listed on the box), as well as our other ongoing projects.

By the way, my white crayon is still on back order, so I decided to use this one. It's much better than that gay yellow one, don't you think?

  • EARTH FARCE COMMAND SHOTS!!

  • I have released some promo shots from EFC, showing off parts of the city it takes place in, as well as some of manually-painted lightmaps used. There are several shots of Karl and Tamara, the two planet

Damn, my crayon ran out. I only have this gay one right now, sorry. Let me write it again now: There are several shots of Karl and Tamara, the two planet-sized alter egos you can play as. Enjoy!

Oh, and I almost forgot. Have a happy Fuck You Day.
